Cherrybrook Kitchen Mini Cookies

Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Every time I pass by a vending machine, I crave a bag of Famous Amos cookies. Finally, I found my dairy-free substitute! Cherrybrook Kitchen is dedicated to making dairy-free products, several of which are also gluten- and nut-free. Some of my favorites? The Mini Cookies, which come in chocolate chip, fudge brownie, and snickerdoodle. Now, these are NOT gluten-free so I have to watch my intake, but they are great for those small sugar cravings.

This company also makes mixes and frostings, as well as larger cookies. I bought a box of the gluten-free, dairy-free chocolate chip cookie mix, which I am very excited to try. Also available in their gluten-free mix section is chocolate cake, sugar cookies, brownies, pancakes, yellow cake, and chocolate chip pancakes. Visit their website for more products or check their blog!

Lucy's Cookies

Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

For those of you who read the post about the amazing Boom Choco Boom dairy-free, gluten-free chocolate bars, you also know I bought a few boxes of Lucy's cookies from Whole Foods to try out. These cookies are dairy-, gluten-, and nut-free and come in Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal, Cinnamon Thin, and Sugar. Developed by Dr. Lucy, whose child has severe food allergies, this dessert option is a decent choice. They certainly don't taste bad, but they are very crunchy and not super sweet. However, after one or two you get used to the "new" taste and they can be a satisfying snack. Perhaps dunk them in rice milk to get that extra needed moisture. You can read more about Dr. Lucy's cookie at her website.

Frozen Waffles by Nature's Path

Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

I made an awesome discovery at Safeway today! Breakfast used to be my favorite meal of the day: oatmeal, pancakes, waffles, eggs poached and sunny side up! All my favorites...but they all have gluten and dairy in them. I've been eating protein bars for breakfast since I was diagnosed with my allergies. BUT today I discovered Nature's Path Buckwheat Wildberry Waffles. Found in the frozen food isle, these mock-eggos are gluten-free and dairy-free. Though I was skeptical to try them (why do so many of these gluten-free things taste like cardboard?), I came straight home and toasted two up, topped them off with some margarine and maple syrup and....I WAS IN LOVE! They are SO yummy and filled with a mix of raspberries, blueberries and elderberries- they are an awesome breakfast option. My suggestion: try them with Smucker's Boysenberry syrup and combine with 2 Banquet Brown 'N Serve Lite Original breakfast sausage for a morning meal that tides you over AND is yummy! Trust me, you'll be hooked! And even if you AREN'T gluten and dairy allergic, these are hands down a healthy choice for those early morning (or late night) waffle cravings.

Also available from Nature's Path: Several gluten-free cereals that taste great with rice, soy, or almond milk, Homestyle gluten-free dairy-free waffles, and Mesa Sunrise gluten-free dairy-free waffles.

Chocolate Bars!

Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Today, my mom and I took a field trip to the huge Whole Foods in Cupertino. I got some great staples- rice pastas, sweet potato chips, vegan salad dressings, and of course my favorite- LARABARS. But the most AMAZING find was the Boom Choco Boom dairy-free, nut-free, soy-free, gluten-free chocolate bars! Available in milk chocolate, dark chocolate, and chocolate crunch, these bars are made with sweet rice milk and rival regular chocolate bars. I indulged in a chocolate crunch bar on the ride home and my sweet tooth was COMPLETELY satisfied! It was just like a Nestle Crunch bar! The calories on these aren't low (220 for an entire bar) but each one is divided into 4 squares which you can easily break off to satisfy your after-meal sweet craving. If you know anyone who is gluten and dairy allergic, PLEASE pass this on! These are an awesome find!!!

Another great find was Lucy's dairy-free, nut-free, gluten free cookies, available in oatmeal, chocolate chip, cinnamon thin, and sugar cookie. Have yet to try them, but they look like another great option!

Gluten-free, Dairy-free Peanut Butter Cookies

2 Tbsp ground flax seed
6 Tbsp water
16 oz jar of crunchy peanut butter
1 banana, mashed
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
2 tsp baking soda

1. Preheat oven to 350.
2. Microwave flax and water in 30 sec intervals until you get a gel-like consistency (this is your "egg")
3. Mix all ingredients together
4. Drop spoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet (they don't spread, so line 'em up close!)
5. Bake for 9-10 min (12 min for a crunchier cookie)

Makes 24 cookies!
*For a sweeter option, try throwing in a 1/2 cup of vegan chocolate chips!

Know of any other great recipes without my 7 Deadly Sins? AKA egg whites, egg yokes, gluten, milk, cheese, preservatives, oils. Pass them my way!
